SINGAPORE: Approximately 1,900 two-room Flexi apartments will be made available in October’s Build-to-Order (BTO) exercise, marking the first time that singles can apply for such units in any location.
Previously, qualified singles could only purchase new 2-room Flexi apartments (with a 99-year lease) in non-mature estates.
However, the Housing and Development Board (HDB) declared last year that, beginning in the second half of 2024, it will no longer categorise housing estates as mature or non-mature.
Instead, new flats will be classed as Standard, Plus, or Prime based on their location and other criteria.
The new flat categorisation allows eligible first-time singles to apply for new 2-room Flexi flats in all regions.
“HDB will set aside up to 65 per cent of the non-senior 2-room Flexi flats in Standard, Plus and Prime projects in a BTO exercise for first-timer singles,” according to the report. The upcoming October BTO exercise will see the launch of 1,902 two-room Flexi flats in 10 out of 15 BTO projects islandwide, in Ang Mo Kio, Bedok, Bukit Batok, Jurong West, Kallang/Whampoa, Pasir Ris and Sengkang, according to HDB.
