SINGAPORE: To gradually reduce the carbon footprint of airline operations, flights leaving from Singapore will have to utilize sustainable aviation fuel starting in 2026.
Due to a tax levied on the purchase of gasoline, passengers departing from Singapore can anticipate paying more for their airline tickets; the precise amount will vary based on the distance traveled and the class of travel.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) created the sustainable air hub blueprint that includes this effort. At the Changi Aviation Summit on Monday, February 19, it was introduced by Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat.
To begin with, Singapore plans to increase sustainable aviation fuel by 1% by 2026.
Mr. Chee stated that the target’s financial impact is “manageable” and mentioned that necessary parties were consulted.
