After the launch of ChatGPT in November 2022, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been a controversial issue in schools, media, and board rooms.
ChatGPT is an AI model that is trained with a massive amount of data for understanding complex queries and delivering answers that are simple and relevant in a human-like manner.
Its primary invention is the ability to compose entire paragraphs, pages, or text and summarise long articles in bullet points. It can also produce text in myriad creative, scientific, and business styles and copy the human ability to create content like images, videos, and texts.
Its development has triggered a race in the heavyweight Internet like Microsoft and Google to rebuild their search engines with AI features. But the GPT has raised concerns about the content’s accuracy and partiality; the technology has also posed a threat to some jobs.
Can we take AI content seriously?
As per the private bank UBS, Till January, Chat GPT has collected 100 million monthly active users globally in the two months of its launch, making it the fastest-growing consumer application in history.
Associate Professor James Pang, co-director of the NUS Business Analytics Centre, said that ChatGPT had generated excitement as it is relevant and accessible to the employees.
Besides, as AI chatbots use data from the Internet, issues arise regarding the involvement of privacy and copyright, as well as the use of abusive or offensive content. Reports have also emerged of using Chat GPT by the hackers.
How AI is deployed in Singapore
Singapore Civil Defence Force uses AI; even the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority taps AI to automate fingerprints, etc.
On a corporate level, AI Singapore has amalgamated with the firms dealing with the kidney dialysis center for developing AI solutions.
As per a consulting firm, most businesses in Singapore spend 10 percent and 30 percent of their total technology investment budgets on developing and implementing AI products and services. Till 2024, these companies will increase their AI investments by 20 percent more.
The report mentioned above states the importance of AI in Singapore. Though sometimes issues of partiality and accuracy arise, AI still works and is being developed by many companies. Many sectors in Singapore are now turning their view toward AI for better and quick results.
