The national water regulator PUB stated on Sunday that “heavy rain coinciding with high tide” was the cause of the flooding that happened along a section of Jalan Seaview on Friday, January 10, evening.
According to a Facebook post, the rain brought on by the continuous monsoon surge and a 2.8-meter high tide “temporarily overwhelmed the adjacent canal and surrounding roadside drains.
In several areas, such as Jalan Seaview, the intersection of Mountbatten Road and Tanjong Katong South Road, and Jalan Pokok Serunai, where the heavy rain caused high water levels in drains and canals, PUB has issued flood danger alerts.
According to PUB, for the past two days, its rapid response teams have been sent to areas at risk of flooding to help locals. Jalan Seaview was one of them. They provided homeowners with flood protection equipment and assisted in pumping water from flooded roads,” it continued. According to PUB, Singapore has seen moderate to heavy downpours in various places since Friday, and the rainy weather is predicted to continue till Monday.
