From Vision to Venture
We started the interview by asking, “Could you tell us about your personal background and offer a detailed summary of your company?”
Wessam Al senafi Tariq replied, “Sure, my name is WessmAlsenafi. I am the CEO and founder of Jabal Tariq Jeneral Trading co. Very Briefly, I completed my master’s degree in business from the university of wales UK and was awarded several certificates in the business field from different well reputed universities across the UK in the business field. moving forward I chose to begin my business and gather all the experiences I have gained into practice by establishing my own business.
We are a general trading company. We are franchisers of international brands mainly related to women apparel, intimates and makeup. We also work with suppliers from all over the world mainly to import and export products that targets women globally and particularly in Kuwait as well as the GCC. In the contrary, focusing on presenting the latest trends of fashion in world of intimates helped us build a good base among the targeted segment of clients.”
Bridging Fashion and Culture
The Singapore Journal:What motivated you to pursue a career in lingerie distribution, specifically within the GCC market?
Wessam Al senafi Tariq replied, “Thank you so much for asking this question. The lingerie business is poorly presented in the middle east generally. just like any fashion lingerie follows trends and news that every woman in the middle east deserves to know/wear. Being in and from the middle east myself no one will understand the women needs from within as much as me. The middle eastern women are so modern and elegant and constantly following the latest fashion trends. And since the lingerie world also follows trends, I saw the necessity to present the latest of the trends to the Middle Eastern women being of elegant and luxury backgrounds and lifestyle they deserve to be updated with the latest lingerie fashion.”
Lessons & Challenges in Perseverance
The Singapore Journal:What are the most important lessons you learned in your life that you carried with yourself over time after having a slow journey to the top and facing struggles at the beginning of your career.
Wessam Al senafi Tariq replied, “Never look back when a decision is taken regardless of the outcome, keep moving forward without forgetting your previous experience. Remember that life obstacles are your guide to your future.”
You mentioned network errors during online purchases as a common issue. How have you addressed these technical challenges to improve the reliability of your e-commerce platform?
Then she answered, “That is done through following up regularly on the latest technologies and business updates, regular checkups are made on our platforms and systems by our IT team to keep the purchase experience smooth yet safe for our clients when using our website /services online.”
Overcoming Market Challenges
The Singapore Journal: Can you discuss your approach to navigating the challenges of the Middle Eastern lingerie market, considering cultural sensitivities and market dynamics? And can you share some examples of how you’ve adapted to changes in the lingerie market over the past few years to maintain competitiveness and sustain business growth?
Wessam Al senafi Tariq replied, “The Middle East market is definitely a challenging one and of course working with this type of products in this part of the world considering the nature of the culture a lot of aspects needs to be kept in mind but what helps us a lot is the fact that all of our team members are all locals and being from the middle east it is easier to work with clients from the same culture this helps us track the middle east market and middle east women requirements better.
