Singapore Post has been advised by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) to “uphold proper governance and processes” following the dismissal of three senior executives for their conduct of internal investigations into a whistleblower report.
On Monday, December 23, IMDA responded to CNA’s questions by stating that it is closely monitoring the situation. After completing disciplinary investigations into their behavior, the company fired Li Yu, the chief executive of its foreign business unit, Vincent Phang, and Vincent Yik, the group chief executive officer and group chief financial officer, on Saturday.
This follows the filing of a whistleblower’s report earlier this year regarding the group’s unregulated international parcel logistics e-commerce business. SingPost did not name the other three supervisors who were directly involved in this issue, but they were fired.
According to the study, SingPost’s foreign business unit manually entered several delivery status codes. These were for international transhipment packages that the business had committed to delivering as part of a contract with one of its biggest clients.
