CEMEX UAE announced today that it will be contributing with its paving solution in the development of the topside infrastructure for its cutting-edge CMA Terminals Khalifa Port. CEMEX will be providing over 200K m3 of Vertua CBGM Concrete to be used in paving with a continuous flow plant at site. This CBGM (Cement Bound Granular Material) will achieve up to 60% CO2 reduction vs traditional paving concrete, by using blended cement and recycled material in the mix for the first time in the country.
The agreement between AD Ports & China Harbour Engineering Company includes the development of the first net zero carbon administration building to be constructed for the joint venture. The award-winning administration building, which won the Net Zero Design Building Project of the Year in October, will be a highly energy-efficient building that is powered from renewable energy sources and offsets.
In addition, the agreement will see the development of 28 office and utilities across the terminal, more than 1 million m2 of yard paving, reefer stacks, STS cranes and access roads.
