SEOUL: According to official media, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un called a high-level national security meeting on Monday, October 14, to oversee a plan of “immediate military action” during escalating tensions with the South.
The nation’s senior security officials, including the ministries of state security and defence, as well as the army chief and other military leaders, attended the Pyongyang meeting.
According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), he laid out the course for rapid military action. He highlighted crucial tasks that must be completed in order to exercise the right to self-defence and operate as a war deterrent.
South Korea stated on Monday that it was “fully ready” to retaliate if fired upon, while the nuclear-armed North has accused Seoul of deploying troops to its border and flying drones above its capital.
The drone flights were reportedly mentioned in a report on the “enemy’s serious provocation” that was given to officials at the Pyongyang conference, according to KCNA. According to official media, Kim “expressed a tough political and military stand” during the meeting.
