SINGAPORE: Four new hotels were built in the Mandai neighborhood during the year-end celebrations, and they are now operational. There are no set check-in or check-out periods, and guests can come and go as they choose in the stylish new wooden huts, where they can stay for free. The Mandai Rainforest Resort, which is intended for human visitors and is scheduled to open in April of this year, should not be confused with the facilities.
According to Mr. Tan Shi Cong, manager of the group’s horticulture department, the insect hotel project is a component of Mandai Wildlife Group’s ongoing efforts to create ecological corridors surrounding the precinct.
The four bug hotels are located in the vicinity of Mandai Wildlife West, a public area that acts as the entryway to Rainforest Wild Asia, which is scheduled to open in March of this year, and Bird Paradise, which replaced Jurong Bird Park and opened in May 2023. Since insects are olfactory, the insect hotels are constructed from hardwood and varnished with a water-based solution, which has a less pungent smell, Mr. Tan stated.
