SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lawrence Wong will self-isolate while working from home after testing positive for COVID-19 for the first time.
Mr. Wong claimed in a Facebook post on Tuesday, December 3, that following a recent run of international business travels, he woke up in the morning with a severe sore throat.
At first, I believed it might be a typical flu virus. To be sure, though, I just took a test. After all these years, it turns out that I’ve finally fallen victim to COVID!” he wrote. Overall, I’m feeling good, and I’ll work from home and isolate myself.”
At the invitation of his Thai counterpart Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Mr. Wong recently traveled to Bangkok. He had previously attended the G20 conference in Brazil and the APEC summit in Peru.
As the holiday season draws near and many people travel, Mr. Wong urged the public to keep up with their flu injections and immunizations.
“If you’re feeling unwell, wear a mask and take the necessary precautions to protect yourself and those around you,” he stated.
