TAIPEI: As part of an investigation into the shipment of detonating communication devices to the violent Lebanese group Hezbollah, Taiwanese authorities questioned two additional workers of a tech company on Monday, September 23.
There are many unanswered questions regarding the origin of the bombs and how the terrorist group obtained them following the detonation of hundreds of pagers and two-way radios throughout Lebanon last week, which left almost 3,000 people wounded and at least 39 dead.
The New York Times, citing anonymous authorities from the United States, said that Israel had placed explosive material inside a shipment of pagers from Gold Apollo in Taiwan.
Hsu Ching-kuang, the head of Gold Apollo, was one of the two individuals questioned by Taiwanese investigators during the initial searches at four locations. Hsu Ching-kuang has denied supplying the devices. On Monday, the prosecutors’ office announced that they had interrogated two additional firm personnel.
According to the prosecutors’ office in Taipei’s Shilin district, where the company is situated, the National Security division has been instructed to examine current or former employees of Gold Apollo as witnesses today.
