SINGAPORE: The Housing and Development Board’s (HDB) most recent round of home improvement projects will upgrade more than 53,000 apartments. HDB announced in a press release on Sunday (Jul 28) that more than S$742 million (US$553 million) has been set aside for the upgrading works.
The Home Improvement Programme (HIP) has selected apartments in towns like Jurong West, Hougang, Woodlands, and Pasir Ris, all across the island. A complete list of the chosen blocks follows this article. According to HDB, as of June 30 of this year, roughly 410,000 apartments had been chosen for HIP, excluding the most recent batch. Roughly 370,000 apartments, or 90% of them, have been upgraded.
HDB reported that the government has invested roughly S$4 billion in HIP since its inception in 2007. National Development Minister Desmond Lee revealed the plans during a community walk in Jurong West on Sunday. A total of 56 blocks have been selected.
Additionally, Mr. Lee stated that HDB would implement an improved repair technique to deal with spalling concrete problems in restrooms. This approach, which “greatly reduces” the likelihood of recurrence at the same spot, will benefit flats chosen for HIP this year, according to HDB.
