Singapore: According to the most recent data released by the Ministry of Education (MOE) on Thursday, July 25, thirty primary schools are oversubscribed in Phase 2B of this year’s Primary 1 registration exercise.
Children who have ties to a school can apply to enter the following year during Phase 2B, the final phase. Twenty spots are set aside in each school in this phase.
Holy Innocents’ Primary School in Hougang was the most oversubscribed elementary school in Phase 2B, with 57 applicants vying for 20 spots.
The following two oversubscribed schools were Nan Chiau Primary School in Sengkang, which received 112 applications for 44 spots, and Ai Tong School in Bishan, which had 53 applications for 20 openings.
Nanyang Primary School in Bukit Timah and Chongfu Primary School in Yishun came next. This year, 2,207 applications for 6,325 spots in Phase 2B were available. Registration opened at 9 a.m. on Monday and ended at 430 p.m. on Tuesday.
Singaporeans residing within one kilometres of the school, those between one and two kilometres of the school, and those residing more than two kilometres from the school are granted priority admission. Permanent residents in the same distance groups follow them.
