SINGAPORE: A lady Woman who drove off with a cyclist on the bonnet of her car in a viral event in Katong had a history of traffic infractions including drink driving, running a red signal, and unlawful parking, a court heard on Friday (March 22).
At the same session, the lawyer for 50-year-old Singaporean Elaine Michele Ow made extensive pleadings for his client to avoid any jail time and, if feasible, requested a large fine.
Ow also challenged her previous conviction history, claiming that several of her parking violations were performed by her husband or sister rather than herself.
At one point, defense lawyer R S Bajwa asked the court to put herself in the shoes of his client, who was being harassed by an aggressive bicycle.
District Judge Janet Wang instantly said, “No, I would not act that way.”
She said that “two wrongs do not make a right” and that “any reasonable and sensible person” like Mr Bajwa would just stop their vehicle and call the police.
