According to CNN, a hotel in Singapore is providing customers a one-night stay reimbursement if their plans are disrupted by rain. Notably, it rains over half of the year in Singapore, but InterContinental Singapore, located in Lion City, is betting that their customers’ vacation will not be ruined.
“I was chatting with a group of friends about what’s next in luxury travel, and one of them jokingly commented that being able to guarantee good weather would be the next level of ultimate luxury travel,” Andreas Kraemer, the hotel’s managing director, said.
However, there is a catch with the “Rain Resist Bliss” insurance plan. It is only offered to guests who stay in suites. Prices for a night in a junior suite start at $633 (about ₹ 52,000) and range up to $3,349 (roughly ₹ 2.2 lakh) for the presidential suite. Another requirement for this deal is that the rain “exceed 120 cumulative minutes within any four-hour block of time during daylight hours between 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.” According to the hotel, for instance, “If it rains continuously between 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm (90 mins) and again between 6:00 pm to 6:30 pm (30 mins), a voucher will be triggered.”
