SINGAPORE: Singapore’s national water agency, PUB, declared on Wednesday (Feb 14) that tap water is safe to consume and that daily testing is done to ensure water quality.
According to an expert who spoke with CNA, the nation’s water safety regulations surpass those established by the World Health Organization (WHO), the UN agency in charge of global health.
This follows two complaints against the local water and air filtration company Sterra Singapore that the Advertising Standards Authority of Singapore (ASAS) received since the beginning of January for advertising that implied the tap water in the nation was unfit to drink. According to CNA’s checks, as of Wednesday, the corporation had taken down the deceptive advertisement.
In response to questions from CNA, PUB stated that it takes water quality seriously and restated the safety of Singapore’s tap water.
Water samples are collected and tested daily from our distribution network across the island. According to the organization, our tap water is well beyond the WHO Guidelines for drinking water Quality and conforms with the Environmental Public Health (Water Suitable for Drinking) (No.2) Regulations 2019.
